[Performance Information]
‘Yajo(夜操)’ was nocturnal military drill carried out on the fourth day of King Jeongjo's royal procession in 1795, during which he ascended Seojangdae at Suwon Hwaseong Fortress to command the royal guard unit, 'Jangyongyeong'. Inspired by this event, the performance is a large-scale outdoor spectacle featuring equestrian displays, martial arts and military tactics, troop formations, dazzling fireworks and special effects, as well as water screens and projection mapping, all synchronized with music.
Set on Yeonmudae (演武臺) in the northeast of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, historically used as a practical military training ground, the performance maximizes realism and audience immersion through a lift-style stage and a three-dimensional seating arrangement.
In particular, approximately 200 citizens actively participate as performers, taking on various roles such as court ladies, generals, and soldiers.
